#48…Kim McCormick

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Ok, at the moment (early Saturday morning) Kim McCormick is my favorite person. Her blog was submitted recently, and I finally (thankfully, gratefully!) read it this morning. First thing I liked was the couple of shots of marvelous macro work at the top of her blog. Beautiful!
But then, I scrolled down to read her Cats & Dogs post, and my husband and I were both in tears we laughed so hard. Now I realize she did not write the Diary she shared, but for sharing it alone, she is my favorite person. Thanks Kim, I really needed that! :) Truly one of the funniest things I have ever read, and if you find out the writer, please let me know so I can share their name!
Ok, so–once you wipe the tears of laughter from your eyes, make sure you move on down to take a peek at her photography. Love the birthday party shots too. I also love the live feed of who visits the blog. I am stealing that widget idea! ;)
I will say (I know its the slower season..) it would be lovely to see Kim update her blog more frequently. And yes, I know I am the pot calling the kettle black, as I have been woefully lax on my own photo blog. ;) Anyway, Kim works out of Brevard County, Florida and you can find her main site here.
~Enjoy!

#47…David Pascolla

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

David photos are sparkling and effervescent… just full of such fun! The color images are some of the best I’ve seen (not over done, just bright and bubbly!) and he has several different b&w conversions that really show lots of different moods.  Love his wide angle fish eye shots too, and love the most recent posts on the blog with the larger images with the black frame, they showcase his work beautifully!

You will really enjoy his blog and his site. He works out of San Luis Obispo, California.

#45…The Storyteller Blog: Charles Bordner

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Sometimes I can’t even recall how I stumbled upon a blog. Some are sent to me as recommendations to review by fans of the blog, some are self-submitted {which, by the way, I think is awesome, so don’t feel bad if you do that, I love it! Self-promotion in this biz is crucial!! Send me presents and I’ll guarantee you a post, lol. ;) }

Anyway, that said, I have no idea where I found this blog… just found it in my favorites from who knows when. Probably saved it one morning at 4:30 when I was proofing bleary-eyed, right? :)
So: here it is, Charles Bordner, aka, The Storyteller.
Amazing, extraordinary work. What artistry….
Really.
Love the blog design as well as the photography, just all around top-notch.
Enjoy!
Blog is here and site is here.

#44…Deb Schwedlelm

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

I’ve concluded that the blogs that I’m most drawn to, and that I return to again and again have a lovely balance of amazing photography, writing that gets to the heart of the blogger, and just the ideal mix of quotes and shared bits about the photographers life.
Deb’s blog has all that; its unquestionably special.
She works out of San Diego, CA, and you can find her main site here.
~enjoy!

#42…something a bit different

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Okay, so its not a “photography blog” but its something that every photographer should know about. Its a wonderful review site for photography vendors, created by Susan Robichaud. Anyone who has been near a photography board in the past year knows that *everyone* (and their mothers, lol) is selling something: actions, presets, templates, workshops, jewelry, magazines, you name it. And everyone knows that on certain boards, you are never going to get an honest and unbiased opinion about said products.
In steps the Reviews of Photography Vendors site…its brilliant in that it allows reviews to be posted about any vendor who is selling to photographers: handbags, jewelry, seminars, etc. Some have criticized the process for allowing Anonymous reviews, but Susan really watches IP’s and all to make sure they are not coming from the same person, and we all know if you criticize a *superstar* on some boards, you will get attacked, so the option of anonymous reviews is key, in my humble opinion. Kudos to the great job and valuable service you are providing Susan, and thanks from someone whom you saved some cash from being wasted on lousy merchandise!
Enjoy!

#41…Kevin Ridge

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Kevin’s Blog just feels like a breath of fresh air. I’ve looked at so many blogs lately (and thats why it takes longer between posts…burnout) and they are All. Starting. To. Look. The. Same. (to me.)

I don’t mean that to sound snarky, but its refreshing to just look at some non-people photos for a change. So, thank you Kevin! The first huge chunk of photos on his blog is just a visual feast of colors and textures and makes me want to grab my camera and go do some non people work! Hope you enjoy!

#40…Elizabeth Medina Photography Blog

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

Ok, first off I have to tell you I live in Minneapolis, MN. We have cold cold winters, a few days ago the temperature was about -15F, heat wave right now with a whopping 32 degrees… Add the windchill in and by February, I’m so over winter. So, I’m loving this blog from sunny warm Mexico: Elizabeth Medina. The beach sessions have me crying in my margarita snuggled up with my space heater here. :)

And aside from the lovely warm weather shots, the photography work is top notch as well. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Her main site is here and she works out all over Mexico, based out of Yucatan.

#38…Susan Striplings photoblog

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

I know there are some amazingly talented photographers out there who I have never heard of. I’m always amazed when I stumble across them and wonder all day how I never have before. Susan Stripling is one such photographer. Her blog is wonderful to read, and if you scroll down a bit, you will see my most favorite sunflare image ever. :) Her site is here and she seems to work all over but is based out of florida. ~Enjoy!

#37…Beautiful Heart Photography

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

I get literally hundreds of  emails asking to be featured on the blog, (and if you emailed to the gmail account, I got it and I’ll get to your site as soon as I can!) ;) However, I get a few sending me to another photographers site, and thats where I found Beautiful Heart. (thanks Ellen!) Sherri’s work is truly beautiful and you can tell she has found her passion. Its so evident in her inspiring writings on her blog that she is a deeply spiritual person who has a huge love of children. Take a break from whatever you are doing and read her blog here and then view more work at her site here. I know you will enjoy it!
