#163…Seshu

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Seshu Photography (blog here ) is based in Connecticut, New England, but Seshu travels extensively to capture lushly gorgeous wedding, engagement and portrait images that are a flawless mix of candid in-the-moment captures fused with beautifully posed images. Seshu was born in NY, but lived in India for 12 years before returning to the US. As he mentions in his bio, he straddles multiple cultures and comfortably immerses himself into their prized traditions. I know you will enjoy his work if you haven’t yet heard of Seshu. Make sure you follow him on twitter too, as he has lots to say and lots of great advice.

Enjoy!

#153…Grant + Deb

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Grant & Deb Perry of Virginia (Hampton Roads and surrounding area) specialize primarily in gorgeous lush wedding coverage, but their senior work, families and traditional portrait work is also superb. I really enjoyed their blog and site, which are both beautifully designed and also very informative for clients without being too wordy. Enjoy!

#143…Ayesha S. Photography

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Ayesha S.’s photoblog features beautiful images of her family and her clients, but what led me to feature her lovely work was her focus and specialty of photographing Muslim weddings and brides-to-be. My hometown of Minneapolis has a growing Muslim community, (and the first Muslim congressman! Go Keith!) but I’d not thought before about the special concerns and issues that pop up while working with the devout Muslim population. I really enjoyed reading and viewing Ayesha’s words and work. Ayesha works out of the DC/Maryland/Virginia area.

And, while not related directly to Ayesha’s blog, in the spirit of encouraging tolerance and open thinking, I thought it would be fitting to share this lovely song/video from YouTube by Kareem Salama: A Land Called Paradise…

#140…The Captured Life

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

The Captured Life photography blog (blog is here) works out of both metro DC and Atlanta, (according to their website). The blog features a great mix of clients, from newborns and babies, to adorable toddlers and children, with some maternity, high school seniors and wedding/engagement mixed in. I know my readers will enjoy the beautiful range of work!

I have to admit, part of the reason I’m featuring The Captured Life is because it was so refreshing to see a little color and diversity in their clientele, after seeing dozens and dozens of blogs that have very little diversity. I welcome submissions from photographers who feature anything different, whether it is a gorgeous mix of lovely skin tones like today’s feature in Tosha’s blog, or different locations, styles or whatever. Email link is up top on the site.

Also, unrelated, I’d like to apologize for the infrequency of my posting. This spring has been insanely busy for me, and I can’t even keep up with my own photography blog-site, I have many sneak peeks I never even got to feature over there. I will do my best to feature 1-2 new sites a week on blogs of photogs, so if I slack, shoot me an email or prod me with a comment. It is good to know if anyone is out there reading and keeping me going. :) Have a wonderful spring Saturday everyone! Thanks!

#139…Jerry Yoon

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Jerry Yoon Phototography consists of Jerry & Ingrid who photograph amazing weddings out of the San Francisco Bay area as well as many destination weddings, and Aubrey & Blake their newish associate photographers. The artistry in their work is amazing and their polished and inspiring take on new shots/angles/compositions is really terrific. I found myself looking way back in their blog, all the way to September of ‘08  (here) where I just loved this engagement session sneak peek. Such a great slice of life and so FUN! :) Definitely one of the more inspiring wedding blogs out there for me.

Enjoy!

#137…Adam Hilton

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

It feels like a good morning to break the rules, so thought I’d feature a photographer who doesn’t have a true blog, so to speak. Adam Hilton, who photographs weddings out of Johannesburg, South Africa, has great work on his site. You can view the main site here, but I’d also recommend the recent weddings here, where they are almost in blog/sneak peek format with several photos from many recent weddings. Adam features some lovely detail shots from each wedding as well as having a great eye for beautiful and interesting backdrops to highlight his clients portraits.

#135…Crash Taylor

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

Crash Taylor is a highly sought after and talented wedding photographer who is based in the UK in Nottingham and Derby. Crash’s style leans toward photojournalistic, with an eye for catching those moments that might easily be missed. He also has some great HDR images on his blog, always great to see when done well. Crash does a phenomenal job of finding the most amazing backdrops for his clients… really inspirational.

Crash also has a separate site that I’m sure many of my readers would love: Interviews by Crash Taylor where he does an in depth interview with various wedding photographers, great info, and fun to read too. Check it out here.

#132…Sakura Photography

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Leslie & Mark Biggar are the team behind Sakura Photography of Vancouver. Their blog features a wide range of photographs, from newborns to engagement sessions (their urban ones rock!), their recent trip to Guatemala and of course, their specialty of weddings. Everything on their site and blog is polished, lovely and professional, but I’m especially fond of their wedding images. They do such a wonderful job of capturing the exuberance and elation of the wedding and reception. Their lighting is sublime and they focus on all the details of getting ready, the ceremony and the party. Simply great work!

#131…Eye in the Sky~Kene Sperry

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Eye in the Sky photography, owned by Kene Sperry, is based out of Big Sky, Montana, but he travels internationally to provide his elegant and artful wedding photography. Kene doesn’t have a blog, so I’m straying from my usual practice of featuring blogs, but his site has several sections where you can enjoy the cinematic artistry of his work~ from his portfolio, to his present moment section featuring weddings of 2008, to his slideshows and book samples. His work is brilliant, and a true archive of his clients special day- I know you will enjoy his site.

#128…Matt Nicolosi

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

Spend a few minutes on Matt Nicolosi’s blog, and you will get a feel that he is a fun guy and that he really loves photography. I mean really. ;) I have to admit it took me quite a while of hitting refresh to decide which of his “bio-pics” and header combo’s to use for my little screenshot up there. Every refresh it is a new one, from photos of him as a child, to fun ones like the iPhone eyes above. I love little details like this.

Matt’s blog features a dizzying array of amazing inspiration in color, texture and light. Lots of amazing architecture and travel shots, just beautiful work. Matt should really be working for a travel magazine, or shooting for an online travel or architecture website… really outstanding! Now, if you stopped at his blog, and didn’t make it to his site, you’d think that was it. But no, his site has loads of gorgeous client work too. I’m not sure why there are so few client sessions on his blog (could be a slow time, or too busy, or lazy, like me, lol) but make sure you check out his site too by clicking here. Matt’s work is not to be missed.
