#44…Deb Schwedlelm

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

I’ve concluded that the blogs that I’m most drawn to, and that I return to again and again have a lovely balance of amazing photography, writing that gets to the heart of the blogger, and just the ideal mix of quotes and shared bits about the photographers life.
Deb’s blog has all that; its unquestionably special.
She works out of San Diego, CA, and you can find her main site here.
~enjoy!

#43…Oleksandr Photography Blog

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

Oleksandr Havrylyuk is a photographer who works out of Vancouver WA and Portland, OR. His blog features primarily wedding images, with an occasional portrait of his own children or an engagement session. I especially loved this photo on page 2 of his blog:

I really like the layout of his blog, nice large images to really showcase his work.
His main website is, hands down, one of the most enjoyable sites I’ve come across in a long time. Everything works. The photography is stunning, intimate and remarkable, the flash site is seamless and timed just perfectly, the music fits, all around great. I have a burning desire to reach for my red pen and edit the english, but it does add to the charm. :) (edited to add… I mean *no disrespect* by this… he seems like a lovely wonderful guy and doing great with his English in comparison to how long he has been in America!)
Enjoy his lovely work… I know you will.

#42…something a bit different

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Okay, so its not a “photography blog” but its something that every photographer should know about. Its a wonderful review site for photography vendors, created by Susan Robichaud. Anyone who has been near a photography board in the past year knows that *everyone* (and their mothers, lol) is selling something: actions, presets, templates, workshops, jewelry, magazines, you name it. And everyone knows that on certain boards, you are never going to get an honest and unbiased opinion about said products.
In steps the Reviews of Photography Vendors site…its brilliant in that it allows reviews to be posted about any vendor who is selling to photographers: handbags, jewelry, seminars, etc. Some have criticized the process for allowing Anonymous reviews, but Susan really watches IP’s and all to make sure they are not coming from the same person, and we all know if you criticize a *superstar* on some boards, you will get attacked, so the option of anonymous reviews is key, in my humble opinion. Kudos to the great job and valuable service you are providing Susan, and thanks from someone whom you saved some cash from being wasted on lousy merchandise!
Enjoy!

#41…Kevin Ridge

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Kevin’s Blog just feels like a breath of fresh air. I’ve looked at so many blogs lately (and thats why it takes longer between posts…burnout) and they are All. Starting. To. Look. The. Same. (to me.)

I don’t mean that to sound snarky, but its refreshing to just look at some non-people photos for a change. So, thank you Kevin! The first huge chunk of photos on his blog is just a visual feast of colors and textures and makes me want to grab my camera and go do some non people work! Hope you enjoy!

(and ps, his main site is here and he is in Garden City, MI.)

#40…Elizabeth Medina Photography Blog

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

Ok, first off I have to tell you I live in Minneapolis, MN. We have cold cold winters, a few days ago the temperature was about -15F, heat wave right now with a whopping 32 degrees… Add the windchill in and by February, I’m so over winter. So, I’m loving this blog from sunny warm Mexico: Elizabeth Medina. The beach sessions have me crying in my margarita snuggled up with my space heater here. :)

And aside from the lovely warm weather shots, the photography work is top notch as well. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Her main site is here and she works out all over Mexico, based out of Yucatan.

#38…Susan Striplings photoblog

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

I know there are some amazingly talented photographers out there who I have never heard of. I’m always amazed when I stumble across them and wonder all day how I never have before. Susan Stripling is one such photographer. Her blog is wonderful to read, and if you scroll down a bit, you will see my most favorite sunflare image ever. :) Her site is here and she seems to work all over but is based out of florida. ~Enjoy!

#37…Beautiful Heart Photography

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

I get literally hundreds of  emails asking to be featured on the blog, (and if you emailed to the gmail account, I got it and I’ll get to your site as soon as I can!) ;) However, I get a few sending me to another photographers site, and thats where I found Beautiful Heart. (thanks Ellen!) Sherri’s work is truly beautiful and you can tell she has found her passion. Its so evident in her inspiring writings on her blog that she is a deeply spiritual person who has a huge love of children. Take a break from whatever you are doing and read her blog here and then view more work at her site here. I know you will enjoy it!

ps, Beautiful Heart is in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and specializes exclusively in children and babies under 5 years of age.

#36…Jennifer Simpson

Jennifer has such a fresh upbeat style to her blog.  Love the title header of her blog, Life’s one Happy Game… great attitude! :) Her site is here and her blog is here and she works out of Phoenix/Glendale in Arizona. Make sure you peek back in her archives too… neat stuff.

#35…some local karma with Jana Kunz!

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

I’ve had several local (I’m in Minneapolis, MN) photographers email me and ask tentatively if I would feature their blog on the blogs of photogs. I’ve always answered back with a *sure will!* I feel strongly that karma is real, that what goes around comes around. Also, there is a nice, large market here in our area, and plenty of work for all of us, right?  So, here goes my second local one: Jana Kunz. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Jana in person at a local photographer meet-up, and she is truly a lovely person as well as a talented photographer and great graphic designer. I love the clean  crisp look of her site, her blog and all her work. She has a really fun blog to read as well, and best of all (hint hint to others!) she updates pretty often. Enjoy!
