#62..João Almeida

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

João Almeida’s blog: Dar o No is in portuguese, but it really doesn’t matter, as the photos speak for themselves. They are haunting and lovely and push the limits in  many different ways. After looking at a million (ok, so I’m prone to exaggeration…) american photoblogs, its so refreshing to see something *different!*

Make sure you go back and look at more than just the first page, as he has some really amazing stuff in earlier posts as well. Quite inspiring work. Enjoy!

#61…Prema Buck-the PB style

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

Prema Buck’s site and business is called “the PB style” and her style is so distinctive, the name really suits. Prema’s blog features a really engaging mix of children and teens, with a great fashion magazine flavor to it. She works in Temecula and Inland Empire, CA primarily. I’m sure you will enjoy her work!

#60…Janine Memon Dietz

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

I’m just in love with the luminous fanciful photography of Janine at Saving Grace Photography. Her blog showcases some of the best work I’ve seen in quite awhile, and as you can imagine, I look at a lot of blogs. :)

Her photos have a translucent clarity that just glows… really really elegant and beautiful and her connections with her subjects are so captivating. I’m sure you won’t hear this from your clients Janine, so let me be the one to whisper it: you are way underpriced. :)

Enjoy!

#59…the blog of Bobbi & Mike

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

Bobbi & Mike are as they put it: “a husband & wife photo team who love being in love, photographing love, and being loved. how lovely is that?!” I’ve often thought it would be fun to work with my husband if he was “into” photography (mine is not), and they are obviously making it work! I especially love the photos on their blog comparing each of their versions of a similar shot. They are located in Indianapolis, IN. Fun couple- fun site and blog, enjoy!

#58…Mike Irwin

Monday, April 21st, 2008

I’ve only featured a flickr set once before, when I featured Katsoulis’s maternity set. I looked and looked for a blog that featured what I was looking for, and couldn’t find one, so am going with this awesome flickr set by Mike Irwin. It features something I’ve become increasingly interested in: Infrared Photography. I bought a used D70s last late fall and had it converted to an IR by Lifepixel (if you decide to get a conversion, use Mary Hanson as your referral name) Its been torture waiting all winter for some nice greenery to photograph with my new IR conversion, so I look at others for inspiration as I wait, in hope that spring and green leaves might finally appear some day here in Minneapolis.

But, back to Mike Irwin, you can find his flickr set on IR here and his art is also available for purchase on his main site here. He shoots his IR shots with a Hoya and an IR filter. They are amazing-ethereal and fragile in their beauty. I can’t wait to get a chance to use my new toy soon. And if you shoot some cool IR stuff… email me, I’d love to see it. Enjoy!

#57…Jodi Getz

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

Our first new post on our new (and much improved!) wordpress blog. If you haven’t already, change your bookmarks from the old blogger blog to this one. I will have feedburner and subscription info updates very soon. :) Thanks for your patience.

So: onto our next photographer: Jodi Getz. Her blog features a very captivating mix of wedding and fashion photography that I’m sure you will enjoy. She seems just as comfortable doing a nice high key in studio as she does doing a gritty urban on location. Love that! Her site is here, and she serves central Alberta, CA.

Hope you enjoy!

#56…Jeanette LeBlanc

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Jeanette has two blogs, following my bliss to showcase her beautiful photos, which she posts to less often than I’d like to see. :) (hint hint, post more! now.) And crunchy on the inside, to showcase her words, which are magical and sublime, and will make you want to add both blogs to your reader or feedburner. You can also peek at more work on her flickr.
As I read through, and looked at her images, I find myself smirking. Here is this shockingly talented woman who has a sidebar of “who she wants to be when she grows up” listing many other talented photographers whom she admires. Hate to break it to you Jeanette, but you are as good as or better than quite a few of them. And, you seem so insightful and sagacious… let it out through your camera more often and *bam* you will be there.
Hope you all enjoy her work as much as I did!

#55…Angela Calderon

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

Angela Calderon is someone I have “known” online for about 3-4 years. Angela’s personality and her photos are so bubbly, colorful and polychromatic that she would cheer up any dark cloudy day! The thing I’ve always loved about her work is it looks like she is just having so much fun when she is shooting, and that lightheartedness comes through loud and clear in her connections with her subjects. Too bad she lives on the other side of the country from me (I’m in Minneapolis, MN–she is in Los Angeles, CA…) as I’m sure we would be fast friends and have a blast together. Angela’s blog is worth checking out–you will love her chatty conversational tone as well as the great photos it showcases. Her main site is here.

#54…Nichol Krupp

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

There is a lot to see on this lovely blog: Nichol Krupp. Great words, great photos (love the twins!) and she seems like a great woman. I got a little lost reading through it all, and enjoyed myself immensely! (And that doesn’t happen often, I’m a good skim-reader! LOL)

Adore the quote she posted from Marianne Williamson, on March 30 (scroll a little) ~so true and so poignant. Also, a bit below that, a wonderful read by Niki on “Art & Accidents”…. I bet if you emailed her and asked really really nice, she would be willing to allow you to share her fab insights with your own clients… Whaddya say Niki? :) Her main site is here and she is located in Michigan.
Enjoy!
