#143…Ayesha S. Photography

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Ayesha S.’s photoblog features beautiful images of her family and her clients, but what led me to feature her lovely work was her focus and specialty of photographing Muslim weddings and brides-to-be. My hometown of Minneapolis has a growing Muslim community, (and the first Muslim congressman! Go Keith!) but I’d not thought before about the special concerns and issues that pop up while working with the devout Muslim population. I really enjoyed reading and viewing Ayesha’s words and work. Ayesha works out of the DC/Maryland/Virginia area.

And, while not related directly to Ayesha’s blog, in the spirit of encouraging tolerance and open thinking, I thought it would be fitting to share this lovely song/video from YouTube by Kareem Salama: A Land Called Paradise…

Enjoy!

#142…Sarah Gardan Photography

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Sarah is a transplanted Australian, living in Paris,  who has the most beautiful fresh photography! I’ve got hundreds of blogs on my lists to check out, but when I peeked at Sarah’s, I  had to bump it right up. Two things come through immediately for me: her talent at capturing beauty with a clarity I always love, and her passion for her work. Her front page post about Gratitude, featuring five things she loves, is really enjoyable to read. I find myself so much more drawn to photo blogs that feature a healthy dollop of who the photographer is~ it creates that connection that further enhances my enjoyment of gorgeous photography. I must also admit it is nice to see some European clothes for kids ~ so fun!

Sarah works, as mentioned, primarily out of Paris, but also travels for sessions in Europe and beyond. Hope you enjoy Sarah’s work too!

#141…Leah Harb (and pendant winner!)

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Leah Harb is located in Vancouver, WA, but works all around the Portland/Vancouver area, as well as in her studio which you can see in much of her lovely work. The current post on her blog is a beautiful tribute to her just turned 12 yr old son, which I really enjoyed, but make sure you move past that. My main reason for featuring her, {aside from her rocking engagement work, her striking commercial work, and her fab children’s images…} is her recent on location work with high school seniors/grads. Check it out here and enjoy. I’m just kicking into gear with seniors myself, and I know many of you are as well, so I know you are going to love her senior work for inspiration, it is divine!

Since Leah didn’t have a header image on her blog, I’m using her splash page for her post image up top, here on Blogs of Photogs. :)

And the winner of drawing for the soldered jewelry pendant from below is Karen McKinnon. Email me and we will work out the details. :) Congrats!
